Broken Heart

A Heart.   Our hearts are made to take blood in and send blood out.   Our hearts are also made to take love in and send love out.   When we do not have enough love going into our heart it can become pale and less productive.  Our heart can also seem to feel broken.  Sometimes we feel God has broken our heart.  We can have something we want in our lives or feel we need.  God has the power to give us what we have asked for, yet we do not get what we asked for.  We can become so focused we believe we need what we have asked for from God.

We are told in:

Matthew 7:7-11 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.  Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?  Or he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

We have asked now why haven’t we gotten it.  This happens primarily when we have taken things out of order.  In the chapter before this verse we find:

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

To seek God is more than just spending a brief time in the Holy Bible, reading a devotional and saying grace before we eat our meals.  God wants to be an integral part of our life.  We are to come to God as a child.  As you would not let your toddler cross the street without holding your hand, God does not want you to go through life without holding His hand.

God is not withholding His love from us when we do not receive, He is showing His love to us.  As a parent wants to meet the needs of His child, God will meet our needs and we must seek Him to understand those needs.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

We don’t need to try to figure out everything in our lives we need to turn to God and rely on Him to provide what we need when we truly need it.

As a parent would not give a child the airline ticket weeks before the flight, God will not give us what we need before we need it.  The child will lose or destroy the ticket before the trip, when we want something if we receive it too soon we will use it up or destroy it before our real need comes up.

Our biggest problem is we don’t see the big picture, we need to improve our vision.  Our sight is improved when we seek God, as we fellowship with God through His Word we see more pieces of the picture and we are more aware of the truth we did not have before.

As Christians we know we are to read the Holy Bible, we often mistake it for a rule book we must study to get life right.  The Holy Bible is to be a portal to God.  God wants to draw us to Himself, not to a list of rules so we can better ourselves.  When we study the Holy Bible and try to follow it religiously we can feel good about ourselves.  When we fellowship with God we feel good about God.  When our relationship with God improves we more readily receive love from God.

God wants to fill our heart with love to overflowing, we must simply open our heart up to God.
