We often want loved ones to rest in peace when they die. When we reach Heaven we will have peace. When we look into the face of God we will know we can trust Him with whatever situation we left behind. We don’t have to wait until we get to heaven to know we can trust God. Trusting God will give us peace in our lives. God wants us to know we can trust Him now, we can do this by having a relationship with Him.
John 14:26-27 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
God knows the struggle is real to keep peace in our lives we can feel we are attacked from all angles. We may feel the attack by words spoken by a spouse or a family member. We may feel the attack in our work place, they may want too much from us or do not appreciate the effort we put forth to accomplish our job.
The truth is we are under attack. The enemy is out to destroy us and guide us to attack others.
John 10:10a The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
The thief wants to steal your peace from you, to kill the hope you have for your future, to destroy your relationship with God. Jesus has a different approach.
John 10:10b I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
God loves us. We are all familiar with this verse:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The depth of this love is more than we can understand.
2 Corinthians 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
How do you spend time with God? The most effective way to get to know someone is to spend quality time with just the two of you. An effective way to spend quality time getting to know God is to spend fellowship time with Him through reading His word. Many Christians read the Bible frequently because they feel they are supposed to. Many people approach reading the Bible like homework. Spending time with God to fellowship through reading His Word is so much more than homework.
Homework is something you do away from your teacher, when you spend time reading the Holy Bible, God wants you to invite Him to explain the Scriptures to you.
We will rest in peace and we can have peace now.
